We
entered the show ring for the first time in 1987 in a large competition at LANA in
Yakima, Washington. Our two juvenile females, Creme
de Chocolat and Somora, were entered in a class of 33
llamas and placed at the top of their class winning first
and second place ribbons. Creme de Chocolat went
on to be named Reserve Grand Champion Female
for the show.
From that day until now, llamas from
Sugarloaf have continued to capture top awards in
halter classes, performance classes, and fleece
judging, even
though we rarely show our animals ourselves.
We are
a large "hands-on" operation without a ranch manager, so
unfortunately you do not often see us at llama shows
and sales. Our animals, however, have been well
represented at llama events by our clients who have
taken home many Champion and Reserve Grand Champion
awards.
The
list of winners is long as llamas purchased from Sugarloaf and/or
sired by our sires are frequently shown with
outstanding success by their proud new owners. Offspring of
Sugarloaf's
Mucho Macho, Gold
Rush and Talisman have scores of
halter class Grand Champions to their credit.
Here are just a few halter
class winners:
- Gold Glitter, a Gold Rush daughter owned
by Koenig's Wool -n- Fir Farm, has captured
first in her class and was named Grand
Champion at numerous shows over the past
two years including the Ag Fest Gold, the
Rogue River Gold, and the Western Regionals.
- A Gold Rush Get of Sire
entry took first place at the Oregon
State Fair.
- Tres Bonne Amie, a
Mucho Macho daughter,
holds a First Place and Reserve Champion at
COLA, a First at Oregon State Fair,
